Hobby Master HA7607 1:48 Supermarine Spitfire PR.Mk XI RAF No.16 Sqn PL965 1944 *ISSUES*

Sale price£55.00 GBP

Preowned - Fair (5/10)

Description

A magnificent, camera-tarmac masterpiece celebrating an enduring icon of Allied aerial reconnaissance. This premium 1:48 scale diecast model by Hobby Master (HA7607) replicates the Supermarine Spitfire PR.Mk XI (PL965 / "R"), operating with RAF No.16 Squadron out of RAF Melsbroek, Belgium, in late 1944. To support the rapid Allied advance into occupied Europe, the PR.Mk XI sacrificed all armor and offensive weaponry, relying purely on its incredible speed and high-altitude capability to secure vital photographic intelligence. Manufactured at RAF Aldermaston in 1944, this particular aircraft carried out critical mapping missions before transitioning through the Netherlands, Germany, and eventually serving the Royal Netherlands Air Force School. Today, PL965 stands as a legendary survivor, beautifully restored to her original 16 Squadron markings and continuing to grace the skies as an active airworthy treasure. This model captures the warbird in its spectacular overall PRU (Photographic Reconnaissance Unit) blue scheme, highlighted by crisp black and white invasion stripes.

Ideal for curators of Allied intelligence operations and elite 1:48 scale warbird collections, this Air Power Series release serves as a definitive historical artifact. The model is engineered with exceptional precision, featuring a removable canopy that opens up an unobstructed view of a highly detailed cockpit interior, complete with pad-printed gauges and pilot seating. Key engineering highlights include a premium, all-metal five-bladed propeller that spins freely, alongside fully functional, movable rudders and elevators. The near-solid metal wings are designed with hinged metal main landing gear components, integrated gear doors, and deeply detailed radiator ducts revealing inner-core details. Complete with a custom presentation stand to display the historic spyplane in a graceful in-flight profile, this premium collectible commands attention in any military display.
