The Hellenic Air Force (HAF) is Greece’s air arm, tasked with defending national airspace, supporting ground and naval forces, and providing humanitarian aid. On April 5, 1974, the first F-4E Phantoms arrived at Andravida with the 117 Combat Wing. The 337 Squadron, initially disbanded in 1978, was soon reactivated as the 337 All-Weather Squadron, flying F-4Es with a focus on interception and a secondary fighter-bomber role. Aircraft 01511 was the first to wear the "Aegean Ghost" camouflage. The F-4 was later phased out in favor of the F-16 and Mirage 2000.
