Description

This 1:72 diecast model of the Heinkel He 111H pays tribute to the most produced and arguably most capable variant of Germany’s iconic WWII medium bomber. The ‘H’ series was developed to improve upon earlier versions, with better defensive armament and increased payload capability. Though it was outclassed as a frontline bomber after the Battle of Britain, the He 111H continued to serve across all Luftwaffe theatres in roles ranging from bombing to torpedo attacks and maritime patrols.

Later versions abandoned the internal bomb bay in favor of an additional fuel tank, increasing range—particularly valuable for maritime missions. Armed with LT F5b air-launched torpedoes, He 111H bombers were a critical component of Kampfgeschwader 26 (KG26), operating from Bardufoss, Norway. Their most infamous mission came during the 1942 attack on Arctic Convoy PQ17, a disaster in which 23 Allied merchant ships were lost. The convoy had been ordered to scatter after intelligence reports warned of the battleship Tirpitz. The Heinkels struck first, pressing through withering anti-aircraft fire to damage and disrupt the convoy’s protective screen, paving the way for relentless U-boat and Ju 88 attacks.

This model comes prebuilt and includes display accessories and a stand, making it a striking addition for collectors of Luftwaffe aircraft and WWII naval warfare history.
