This 1:72 diecast model of Gerhard Barkhorn’s Messerschmitt Bf 109 pays tribute to one of Germany’s most accomplished fighter aces. Barkhorn joined the Luftwaffe in 1938 and flew in the Battle of Britain, where he began his long combat career in the aircraft he considered his favorite—the Me 109. Over the course of more than 1,100 missions, he was shot down nine times but achieved an astonishing 300 aerial victories, making him the second-highest scoring fighter pilot in history.
After the war, Barkhorn continued his military career, eventually reaching the rank of Generalmajor in the post-war West German Bundesluftwaffe.
This model comes prebuilt and includes display accessories and a stand, making it an essential piece for collectors of Luftwaffe and WWII aviation history.
