This 1:72 scale diecast model represents the McDonnell-Douglas QF-4B Phantom, converted into an unmanned drone as part of the U.S. Navy’s NAT (Navy Agile Target) program. In response to the inadequacy of existing target drones, the program was launched in 1970 to provide advanced remotely-piloted aircraft for live missile testing and anti-aircraft defense system evaluations.
The QF-4B, based on the F-4B Phantom, was painted in a highly visible orange scheme for its role. The first aircraft was delivered to the Naval Missile Center at Point Mugu, California, in April 1972.
Diecast construction with authentic details. Model comes pre-assembled with accessories and ready to display.
Length - 10.5"
Width - 6.25"
The model is in excellent ex-display condition, though the topside of the right wing has a small black line near the front section.
The box is in good condition with some age related wear.
