Description

A visually spectacular 1:72 scale diecast representation of a Mikoyan MiG-29 Fulcrum-C flown by the Ukrainian Falcons display team. Released as part of the Corgi Aviation Archive Collector Series, US37505 depicts aircraft 102 during its appearance at the Royal International Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford in 1997.

The Ukrainian Falcons were formed during the 1990s as a national military aerobatic team equipped with the highly capable MiG-29 fighter. Their international displays demonstrated both the performance of the aircraft and the newly independent Ukrainian Air Force to audiences across Europe.

The team made its public debut in Ukraine before travelling to major European aviation events. Its appearance at RAF Fairford brought the striking blue and yellow display aircraft to one of the largest military air shows in the world, where the MiG-29's agility and power made it a memorable performer.

Aircraft 102 is reproduced in an elaborate national display scheme featuring brilliant blue and yellow decoration across the wings, tail surfaces and rear fuselage. Ukrainian trident insignia, the aircraft number 102 and prominent “Ukrainian Falcons” lettering complete its unmistakable appearance.

Designed as a high-performance air-superiority fighter, the Mikoyan MiG-29 first flew in 1977. Its twin engines, widely spaced air intakes, powerful radar and excellent manoeuvrability made it a formidable short-range fighter. The aircraft was also capable of carrying air-to-air and air-to-ground weapons for a variety of operational roles.

Limited to only 1,000 pieces worldwide, this release is particularly appealing to collectors of aerobatic teams, Ukrainian military aviation and modern fighter aircraft. The model features heavyweight diecast construction, a detailed twin-seat cockpit beneath a clear canopy, intricately reproduced display markings, detailed engine exhausts, removable landing gear and the original Corgi Aviation Archive presentation stand.

Grading

Grading Criteria

Our grading is based mainly on the physical condition of the model itself, including paintwork, attached parts, repairs, visible wear and overall presentation. Box condition and missing separate accessories are noted separately where applicable.

Mint (10/10)
- As new, with no visible flaws to the model itself.

Near Mint (9/10)
- Very light signs of handling, storage or display only.

Excellent (8/10)
- Light wear or a few tiny marks, but still displays very well.

Very Good (7/10)
- Noticeable wear, small chips or rubs, but still presentable as a display piece.

Good (6/10)
- Obvious overall wear, visible marks or paint loss; better suited as a display or filler piece.

Fair (5/10)
- Heavy wear, larger areas of paint loss, repairs or clearly visible flaws.

Spares / Repairs (4/10 or below)
- Significant damage, missing attached parts, broken components or best suited for restoration/spares.

If a separate accessory, stand, leaflet, certificate or optional part is missing, this will be mentioned in the listing notes. The model may still receive a high grade if the model itself remains in strong condition.
