Description
A razorback legend from the high-scoring "Zemke Wolfpack." This 1:48 scale diecast model by Hobby Master (HA8451) replicates the Republic P-47D Thunderbolt "Little Chief" (#42-76179), flown by 1st Lt. Frank Klibbe of the 61st Fighter Squadron, 56th Fighter Group, out of RAF Halesworth, England, in March 1944. This specific airframe was Klibbe’s third P-47 and the mount he used to score four of his seven confirmed aerial victories. Sporting the distinctive white nose band and bold red rudder of the 56th FG—the highest-scoring Eighth Air Force group in air-to-air combat—the model beautifully showcases the early "razorback" profile of the rugged Thunderbolt.
Ideal for curators of ETO air operations and WWII history, this Air Power Series release serves as a definitive historical artifact of the daylight bombing escort campaigns over occupied Europe. The large 1:48 scale model is engineered for exceptional accuracy, featuring a detailed cockpit with an opening canopy, optional-position landing gear, wing-mounted ordnance, and the beautifully detailed "Little Chief" Native American chief nose art. This premium diecast metal model offers a sophisticated display presence for collectors prioritizing provenance and elite pilot legacies, making it a premier acquisition for any gallery dedicated to pioneer aerospace engineering and the 56th Fighter Group legacy.
