Hobby Master HA8206 1:48 Vought F4U Corsair USN VF-84 Wolf Gang White 167

Sale price£75.00 GBP

Preowned - Good (6/10)

Description

The hard-hitting mount of a legendary "Wolf Gang" commander. This highly detailed 1:48 scale diecast model by Hobby Master (HA8206) replicates the Vought F4U Corsair "White 167," flown by Lt. Cdr. Roger Hedrick, Commanding Officer of USN squadron VF-84 "Wolf Gang," while operating from the aircraft carrier USS Bunker Hill in February 1945. Formed largely from veterans of the famous VF-17 "Jolly Rogers," VF-84 was designated as the Navy's premier day-fighter Corsair squadron. While flying from the Bunker Hill on February 25, 1945, Hedrick added to his impressive tally by destroying two Japanese "Franks" and a "Zero," bringing his final war record to 12 aircraft destroyed. Finished in a rich Gloss Sea Blue livery with contrasting bright yellow cowling accents and arrow carrier geometric identification tail marks, this model perfectly captures the late-war strike aesthetic of the iconic inverted gull-wing fighter.

Ideal for curators of Pacific Theatre carrier operations and U.S. Navy aviation history, this Air Power Series release serves as a definitive historical artifact of the final aerial pushes against the Japanese mainland. The large 1:48 scale model is engineered for exceptional accuracy, featuring positional folding wings for flight or carrier deck parking configuration, an opening canopy, optional landing gear positions, and a detailed cockpit with a pilot figure. This premium diecast metal model offers a sophisticated display presence for collectors prioritizing provenance and ace commander history, making it a premier acquisition for any gallery dedicated to pioneer aerospace engineering and the VF-84 legacy.

Grading

Grading Criteria

Our grading is based mainly on the physical condition of the model itself, including paintwork, attached parts, repairs, visible wear and overall presentation. Box condition and missing separate accessories are noted separately where applicable.

Mint (10/10)
- As new, with no visible flaws to the model itself.

Near Mint (9/10)
- Very light signs of handling, storage or display only.

Excellent (8/10)
- Light wear or a few tiny marks, but still displays very well.

Very Good (7/10)
- Noticeable wear, small chips or rubs, but still presentable as a display piece.

Good (6/10)
- Obvious overall wear, visible marks or paint loss; better suited as a display or filler piece.

Fair (5/10)
- Heavy wear, larger areas of paint loss, repairs or clearly visible flaws.

Spares / Repairs (4/10 or below)
- Significant damage, missing attached parts, broken components or best suited for restoration/spares.

If a separate accessory, stand, leaflet, certificate or optional part is missing, this will be mentioned in the listing notes. The model may still receive a high grade if the model itself remains in strong condition.
