Description

A visually dramatic and highly detailed 1:72 scale diecast representation of a Turkish Air Force McDonnell Douglas F-4E Phantom II carrying the special “Kara Sahin” scheme. Released as part of the Hobby Master Air Power Series, HA1926 depicts aircraft 66-0312 of 172 Filo during 2009.

The Turkish Air Force became one of the most significant international operators of the F-4 Phantom II, receiving its first aircraft during the 1970s. Turkish Phantoms subsequently served in the fighter, ground-attack and reconnaissance roles, with upgraded examples remaining operational for many decades.

Aircraft 66-0312 was assigned to 172 Filo “Sahin” and received a spectacular commemorative colour scheme marking the squadron's disbandment in 2009. The design transformed the normally subdued Phantom into a striking tribute to the unit and its long association with the aircraft.

The model recreates the predominantly dark grey finish with an expansive stylised bird motif applied across the wings and fuselage. White and grey feather detailing, a prominent yellow beak and matching tail artwork create one of the most recognisable special schemes ever carried by a Turkish Phantom.

Developed from the original United States Navy Phantom II, the F-4E incorporated an internal cannon, improved radar and numerous refinements for land-based operation. Its powerful twin engines, two-person cockpit and extensive external weapons capacity allowed it to perform air defence, interception and strike missions.

This Hobby Master release is particularly appealing to collectors of Turkish military aviation, special colour schemes and international Phantom operators. The model features extensive diecast construction, detailed front and rear cockpits beneath separately positionable canopies and a comprehensive selection of removable external stores. Additional details include authentic 172 Filo markings, the full Kara Sahin artwork and the original Hobby Master presentation display stand.

Grading

Grading Criteria

Our grading is based mainly on the physical condition of the model itself, including paintwork, attached parts, repairs, visible wear and overall presentation. Box condition and missing separate accessories are noted separately where applicable.

Mint (10/10)
- As new, with no visible flaws to the model itself.

Near Mint (9/10)
- Very light signs of handling, storage or display only.

Excellent (8/10)
- Light wear or a few tiny marks, but still displays very well.

Very Good (7/10)
- Noticeable wear, small chips or rubs, but still presentable as a display piece.

Good (6/10)
- Obvious overall wear, visible marks or paint loss; better suited as a display or filler piece.

Fair (5/10)
- Heavy wear, larger areas of paint loss, repairs or clearly visible flaws.

Spares / Repairs (4/10 or below)
- Significant damage, missing attached parts, broken components or best suited for restoration/spares.

If a separate accessory, stand, leaflet, certificate or optional part is missing, this will be mentioned in the listing notes. The model may still receive a high grade if the model itself remains in strong condition.
