This 1:72 diecast model of Spitfire XIV RN135/TB-A represents the 'clipped wing' aircraft flown by Squadron Leader James ‘Ginger’ Lacey while commanding 17 Squadron at Seletar, Singapore in late 1945. Lacey was one of the RAF’s top fighter aces, credited with 28 confirmed kills, 4 probable's, and 9 damaged enemy aircraft. He first saw action with 501 Squadron in France during May 1940, where his five victories earned him the French Croix de Guerre.

During the Battle of Britain, Lacey became one of the RAF’s highest-scoring pilots, achieving 18 kills and receiving the Distinguished Flying Medal (DFM) on 23 August 1940, followed by a Bar to the DFM in November for his continued heroism. After various postings in 1941–42, he was deployed to India, eventually commanding 155 Squadron and then 17 Squadron, where he flew the powerful Griffon-engine Spitfire XIV featured in this model.

This model comes prebuilt and includes display accessories and a stand, making it a standout addition for collectors of notable RAF aces and late-war Spitfire variants.
