Corgi Aviation Archive 1:72 Catalina John S. McCain, Henderson Field US36109

Sale price£185.00 GBP

Limited Edition
1195 of 1400
Pieces Worldwide

This 1:72 diecast model of Vice Admiral John S. McCain’s PBY-5A Catalina honours a key aircraft used during a turning point in the Pacific War. As commander of all US Navy, Marine Corps, and USAAF aircraft in the South Pacific, Vice Admiral McCain (grandfather of Senator John S. McCain III) was a decisive leader in a critical theatre. He used this very Catalina as his command aircraft, notably flying vital supplies into Henderson Field just five days after the U.S. Marines landed on Guadalcanal.

By doing so, the aircraft earned its place in history as the first to land at the newly secured airstrip—helping to solidify American presence at one of the most strategically important locations in the Pacific.

This model comes prebuilt and includes display accessories and a stand, making it a standout piece for collectors of naval aviation or Pacific War history.

Length - 10.75"

Width - 17.25"

This model is in mint condition and has not been on display.

The box is in excellent condition but on the side of the inner tray cardboard, there is separation from the glue.
