This 1:32 diecast model of Eric ‘Lockie’ Lock’s Spitfire commemorates one of the RAF’s most skilled and celebrated fighter pilots. In 1939, Lock joined the RAF Volunteer Reserve. When war broke out, he was quickly called up, trained as a Pilot Officer, and posted to No. 41 Squadron flying Spitfires. On 15th August 1940, he shot down a Bf110, and within a week had claimed 8 kills - earning his first Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC).
Despite multiple injuries during the Battle of Britain, he became the highest-scoring British-born pilot with 16.5 kills. After a long recovery, he returned to combat, reaching 26.5 confirmed kills and receiving both a DSO and a second DFC before being shot down over Northern France on 3rd August 1941, just before his 22nd birthday.
This model comes prebuilt and includes display accessories and a stand, making it ideal for collectors and aviation history enthusiasts.
