The Hawker Hurricane, designed by Sydney Camm and first flown on November 6, 1935, was developed from the Fury biplane as a rugged monoplane fighter. Known for its wide-set landing gear, reliability, and stable gun platform, the Hurricane proved highly versatile—serving as a night fighter, ground attacker, and intruder. Its steel-tube frame with wood and fabric skin allowed cannon shells to pass through without detonating.
Over time, it received numerous upgrades, including a more powerful Merlin engine and multi-role wings capable of carrying twelve 7.7mm guns, two 40mm anti-tank guns, or two 500lb bombs.
