Spitfire P7350, based at the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF) at RAF Coningsby, Lincolnshire, is the oldest airworthy Spitfire in the world. Believed to be the 14th built at Castle Bromwich, it entered service in August 1940 and flew in the Battle of Britain with 266 and 603 (AuxAF) Squadrons. It later served with 616 and 64 Squadrons before being reassigned to support duties in 1942, ultimately surviving the war.
Saved from scrapping in 1948, P7350 was preserved and restored to flying condition in 1968 for the film The Battle of Britain, after which it was handed over to the BBMF. It currently flies in the markings of Spitfire Ia K9998 of 92 Squadron—the aircraft flown by Flt Lt Geoffrey Wellum DFC when he claimed his first victory over a Heinkel He 111.
