Description

A landmark technological marvel from the dawn of operational jet combat. This highly detailed 1:72 scale diecast model by Corgi (AA35707) replicates the Messerschmitt Me 262A "White 1," flown by the highly decorated ace Leutnant Franz Schall of Kommando Nowotny while based at Achmer, Germany, in the autumn of 1944. Recruited into the world's first operational jet fighter unit by Major Walter Nowotny, Schall utilized the Me 262's blistering speed to intercept Allied bomber formations. Schall was exceptionally proficient in the jet, scoring many of his 133 career victories behind the controls of the revolutionary twin-engine aircraft. Finished in an authentic late-war Luftwaffe green splinter camouflage pattern with a prominent yellow fuselage band and an experimental zebra-striped tail rudder, this model represents the cutting-edge of WWII aviation design.

Ideal for curators of late-war history and pioneering jet aerospace engineering, this Aviation Archive Collector Series release serves as a definitive historical artifact. The 1:72 scale model is engineered with premium precision, featuring highly detailed Junkers Jumo 004 inlet and exhaust nacelles, four crisply molded nose cannon ports, and associated shell-casing ejection ports detailed underneath the fuselage. When configured with the robust metal landing gear in the down position, exceptional structural details are revealed inside the open wheel wells. Complete with a hand-painted pilot figure wearing a typical German fighter uniform, leather jacket, and flight helmet, this premium diecast model offers a magnificent presence on its included custom metal presentation stand.
