On 14 January 1945, B-24 Liberator Witchcraft of the 467th Bomb Group made history at USAAF Station 145, Rackheath, Norfolk, by completing its 100th credited mission without a single mechanical abort. Part of a 30-aircraft raid on Hallendorf’s steelworks, Witchcraft returned after 6 hours and 35 minutes, greeted by high-ranking officials including General Ketner, press, a film crew, and the Rackheath Band.
This remarkable milestone was a tribute to the aircraft’s exceptional ground crew, nicknamed the "League of Nations" for their diverse backgrounds, led by M/Sgt Joe Ramirez. Each member was honoured by General Ketner for their role in maintaining one of the most reliable bombers of the Second Air Division.
