Corgi Aviation AA28901 1:72 Bristol Beaufort 22 Sqn F/O K Campbell VC 1941

Limited Edition
607 of 1900
Pieces Worldwide

Condition

On 6 April 1941, Bristol Beaufort Mk.I N1016 (OA-X), piloted by Flying Officer Kenneth Campbell, launched a solo torpedo attack on the German battleship Gneisenau in Brest Harbour. Braving heavy defenses and poor weather, Campbell flew at wavetop height to deliver a precise strike, severely damaging the ship and forcing it back into dry dock for six months. The Beaufort was shot down during its escape, killing the entire crew.

Their heroic action, later confirmed by the French Resistance, led to Campbell being posthumously awarded the Victoria Cross—an honour reflecting the courage of the entire crew.
