Description
The muscular "Jug" in its signature Duxford livery. This 1:48 scale diecast model by Hobby Master (HA8410) recreates the Republic P-47D Thunderbolt "Eileen" (#42-28878), flown by Lt. Frank Oiler of the 84th Fighter Squadron, 78th Fighter Group, out of RAF Duxford, England, in 1944. Named in honor of Oiler's girlfriend, this razorback-style Thunderbolt features the famous black-and-white checkered nose art that distinguished the 78th FG in the skies over occupied Europe. The model beautifully captures the sheer mass and imposing presence of the heaviest single-engine fighter of World War II, celebrated for its rugged durability and devastating ground-attack capabilities.
Ideal for curators of ETO air operations and WWII aviation heritage, this Air Power Series release serves as a definitive historical artifact of the Eighth Air Force. The large 1:48 scale model is engineered for exceptional accuracy, featuring a detailed cockpit with a pilot figure, optional landing gear configurations, and a realistic Olive Drab and Neutral Grey camouflage pattern with authentic unit nose markings. This premium diecast metal model offers a sophisticated display presence for collectors prioritizing provenance and legendary fighter pilots, making it a premier acquisition for any gallery dedicated to pioneer aerospace engineering and the Duxford legacy.
