Model condition

  • Wings: Paint wear is present on the topside.
  • Undercarriage: One underside landing-gear fixture is loose and removable because the plate above it lifts slightly. There is wear around this area. Stable support on the landing gear should not be expected without additional support.
  • Display: The model still presents well but may be better suited to stand display, with the landing gear secured closed using a small amount of Blu Tack if required. This is a suggested workaround, not a completed repair.

Box condition

  • Noticeable external wear and a rip to the internal cover.
  • Please review the photographs alongside the condition notes before purchasing.

Description

Hobby Master HA7812 depicts Spitfire Mk.IIa P7423, coded QV-Y, flown by Sub-Lieutenant Arthur Blake with No. 19 Squadron RAF in October 1940. Blake was a naval pilot serving alongside RAF aircrew during the Battle of Britain, when the squadron’s Spitfires helped defend British airspace against Luftwaffe raids.

This 1:48 diecast model brings a named-pilot Spitfire to a Battle of Britain collection. The familiar elliptical wings and RAF markings make it a natural companion to Hurricanes and contemporary German fighters, while its larger scale gives the cockpit and airframe details room to stand out on a display shelf.

Grading

Grading Criteria

Our grading is based mainly on the physical condition of the model itself, including paintwork, attached parts, repairs, visible wear and overall presentation. Box condition and missing separate accessories are noted separately where applicable.

Mint (10/10)
- As new, with no visible flaws to the model itself.

Near Mint (9/10)
- Very light signs of handling, storage or display only.

Excellent (8/10)
- Light wear or a few tiny marks, but still displays very well.

Very Good (7/10)
- Noticeable wear, small chips or rubs, but still presentable as a display piece.

Good (6/10)
- Obvious overall wear, visible marks or paint loss; better suited as a display or filler piece.

Fair (5/10)
- Heavy wear, larger areas of paint loss, repairs or clearly visible flaws.

Spares / Repairs (4/10 or below)
- Significant damage, missing attached parts, broken components or best suited for restoration/spares.

If a separate accessory, stand, leaflet, certificate or optional part is missing, this will be mentioned in the listing notes. The model may still receive a high grade if the model itself remains in strong condition.
