Model condition

  • All defects are shown with red arrows in the images for clear observation.
  • Rear section: The arrestor hook has snapped and is now shorter than intended. The detached section is not included.
  • Underside: The underwing pitot has snapped off, but the detached piece is included for a possible repair. Glue residue near this area suggests it may have been repaired previously. Blemishing is also present on the paint beneath the rear fuselage.
  • Display stand: Glue residue is present where the stand arm and cradle join. Although the stand is designed to support an angled dive-bombing pose, this position is not recommended because of the increased risk of damage. Gear-down display is advised unless a stronger aftermarket stand is used.
  • The model still displays well and comes with its remaining original parts and accessories. The missing arrestor-hook section is not included.

Box condition

  • Noticeable age-related wear is present, but the box remains structurally sound.

Description

Hobby Master HA2213 is a detailed 1:72 scale diecast representation of the Curtiss SB2C-4E Helldiver White 203 of Bombing Squadron 87, operating from USS Ticonderoga in May 1945.

After USS Ticonderoga returned to operations, VB-87 used its Helldivers during strikes against the Marshall Islands, Okinawa and the Ryukyu Islands. The squadron’s carrier-launched dive bombers supported the United States Navy’s advance during the closing months of the Pacific War.

The SB2C Helldiver replaced the Douglas Dauntless as the US Navy’s principal carrier dive bomber. Later variants combined cannon armament, a substantial bomb load and useful range, making the aircraft an important part of American carrier air groups during 1944 and 1945.

Grading

Grading Criteria

Our grading is based mainly on the physical condition of the model itself, including paintwork, attached parts, repairs, visible wear and overall presentation. Box condition and missing separate accessories are noted separately where applicable.

Mint (10/10)
- As new, with no visible flaws to the model itself.

Near Mint (9/10)
- Very light signs of handling, storage or display only.

Excellent (8/10)
- Light wear or a few tiny marks, but still displays very well.

Very Good (7/10)
- Noticeable wear, small chips or rubs, but still presentable as a display piece.

Good (6/10)
- Obvious overall wear, visible marks or paint loss; better suited as a display or filler piece.

Fair (5/10)
- Heavy wear, larger areas of paint loss, repairs or clearly visible flaws.

Spares / Repairs (4/10 or below)
- Significant damage, missing attached parts, broken components or best suited for restoration/spares.

If a separate accessory, stand, leaflet, certificate or optional part is missing, this will be mentioned in the listing notes. The model may still receive a high grade if the model itself remains in strong condition.
