Description
A collectable mixed-scale four-piece diecast set commemorating the aircraft, armoured vehicles and troop transport associated with the First World War. Released in 2001 as part of Corgi's A Century of War range, CS90026 is titled “For King and Country: Remembering Those Who Fell at the Somme”.
The aviation element consists of a Sopwith Camel and a Fokker Dr.I Triplane. These two highly recognisable fighter aircraft represent the opposing air forces which fought above the Western Front, with the Fokker finished in the distinctive red scheme popularly associated with Manfred von Richthofen.
The ground vehicles include a British B-Type double-decker bus configured for troop transport and a Mark IV Male tank. Civilian buses were adapted to carry soldiers and supplies, while the development of armoured fighting vehicles represented a major attempt to overcome the defensive conditions of trench warfare.
The B-Type bus recreates the appearance of the vehicles commonly known as “Old Bill” buses, which became closely associated with the movement of British troops. The Mark IV Male tank is distinguished by its side-mounted naval guns and represents one of the best-known British heavy tank designs of the conflict.
Although the presentation title remembers those who fell at the Somme, the four models collectively span the wider First World War rather than representing equipment present during one particular engagement. The Fokker Dr.I and Mark IV tank both entered service after the opening Battle of the Somme in 1916, making this a commemorative themed collection rather than a precise single-date diorama.
The models are produced in different compact display scales, combining diecast metal construction with detailed plastic components. The aircraft are supplied with display stands, while the complete collection is presented together in themed A Century of War packaging.

Grading
Grading Criteria
Our grading is based mainly on the physical condition of the model itself, including paintwork, attached parts, repairs, visible wear and overall presentation. Box condition and missing separate accessories are noted separately where applicable.
Mint (10/10)
- As new, with no visible flaws to the model itself.
Near Mint (9/10)
- Very light signs of handling, storage or display only.
Excellent (8/10)

Very Good (7/10)

Good (6/10)
- Obvious overall wear, visible marks or paint loss; better suited as a display or filler piece.
Fair (5/10)
- Heavy wear, larger areas of paint loss, repairs or clearly visible flaws.
Spares / Repairs (4/10 or below)
- Significant damage, missing attached parts, broken components or best suited for restoration/spares.
If a separate accessory, stand, leaflet, certificate or optional part is missing, this will be mentioned in the listing notes. The model may still receive a high grade if the model itself remains in strong condition.
