Description
A collectable four-piece mixed-scale set representing the fighter aircraft and essential Royal Air Force ground vehicles associated with the Battle of Britain. Released within Corgi's A Century of War Showcase Collection, CS90025 is titled “Their Finest Hour”.
The air war is represented by a Royal Air Force Supermarine Spitfire and a Luftwaffe Messerschmitt Bf 109. These opposing fighter types became enduring symbols of the aerial campaign fought over Britain and the English Channel during 1940.
The Spitfire represents an aircraft carrying the marking KL-B and the name “Kiwi”, associated with New Zealand fighter pilot Alan Deere of RAF No. 54 Squadron. Its Luftwaffe counterpart represents the principal German single-seat fighter encountered by RAF pilots during the campaign.
The accompanying AEC Matador ballast tractor represents the heavy ground vehicles used for moving equipment and supporting airfield operations. The RAF Morris ambulance reflects the medical and emergency services which remained ready to respond following air raids, flying accidents and attacks on operational stations.
The aircraft and ground vehicles are produced in different display scales appropriate to their respective Corgi Showcase ranges. Together, they create a broader Battle of Britain display which includes both frontline aircraft and the ground crews and services supporting them.

Grading
Grading Criteria
Our grading is based mainly on the physical condition of the model itself, including paintwork, attached parts, repairs, visible wear and overall presentation. Box condition and missing separate accessories are noted separately where applicable.
Mint (10/10)
- As new, with no visible flaws to the model itself.
Near Mint (9/10)
- Very light signs of handling, storage or display only.
Excellent (8/10)
- Light wear or a few tiny marks, but still displays very well.
Very Good (7/10)
- Noticeable wear, small chips or rubs, but still presentable as a display piece.
Good (6/10)
- Obvious overall wear, visible marks or paint loss; better suited as a display or filler piece.
Fair (5/10)
- Heavy wear, larger areas of paint loss, repairs or clearly visible flaws.
Spares / Repairs (4/10 or below)
- Significant damage, missing attached parts, broken components or best suited for restoration/spares.
If a separate accessory, stand, leaflet, certificate or optional part is missing, this will be mentioned in the listing notes. The model may still receive a high grade if the model itself remains in strong condition.
