Description
A distinctive mixed-scale four-piece diecast military set commemorating the soldiers, medical crews and support personnel involved in the Battle for Pork Chop Hill during the Korean War. Released as Corgi Showcase Collection No. 4 within the A Century of War range, CS90023 carries the subtitle “The Forgotten Heroes of Korea”.
The collection contains four separately presented United States Army models: a Bell H-13 Sioux helicopter, a WC54 military ambulance, a Willys MB Jeep and an M3A1 half-track carrier. Together, the models represent the combination of medical evacuation, transport, liaison and armoured support equipment associated with United Nations operations in Korea.
Pork Chop Hill became the site of intense fighting between United Nations and Chinese forces during the closing months of the Korean War. Major engagements took place during April and July 1953, while armistice negotiations were continuing. During the final battle, both sides repeatedly reinforced their positions before United Nations forces were ordered to withdraw after five days of heavy fighting.
The Bell H-13 Sioux became one of the most recognisable aircraft of the conflict. Its bubble canopy, open tubular tail structure and external stretcher racks made it particularly suitable for transporting seriously wounded personnel from frontline areas to Mobile Army Surgical Hospitals.
The accompanying WC54 ambulance and Willys Jeep represent the essential ground transport used to move casualties, personnel and supplies, while the M3A1 half-track reflects the armoured vehicles used to carry troops and equipment through exposed battlefield areas.
Each model is mounted on its own presentation plinth with an accompanying information panel, allowing all four pieces to be arranged together as a themed display. The set combines diecast metal construction with detailed plastic components and authentic olive-drab United States Army markings.
Released during the early 2000s, CS90023 is an appealing addition for collectors of Korean War subjects, Corgi military vehicles and multi-model historical display sets.

Grading
Grading Criteria
Our grading is based mainly on the physical condition of the model itself, including paintwork, attached parts, repairs, visible wear and overall presentation. Box condition and missing separate accessories are noted separately where applicable.
Mint (10/10)
- As new, with no visible flaws to the model itself.
Near Mint (9/10)
- Very light signs of handling, storage or display only.
Excellent (8/10)
- Light wear or a few tiny marks, but still displays very well.
Very Good (7/10)
- Noticeable wear, small chips or rubs, but still presentable as a display piece.
Good (6/10)
- Obvious overall wear, visible marks or paint loss; better suited as a display or filler piece.
Fair (5/10)
- Heavy wear, larger areas of paint loss, repairs or clearly visible flaws.
Spares / Repairs (4/10 or below)
- Significant damage, missing attached parts, broken components or best suited for restoration/spares.
If a separate accessory, stand, leaflet, certificate or optional part is missing, this will be mentioned in the listing notes. The model may still receive a high grade if the model itself remains in strong condition.
