Description

A compact and collectable 1:110 scale diecast representation of North American P-51D Mustang 44-15569 “Bunnie”, flown by Captain Roscoe C. Brown Jr. of the renowned Tuskegee Airmen. Released as part of Corgi's Fighter Scramble Showcase Collection, CS90017 represents the aircraft while serving with the USAAF 100th Fighter Squadron, 332nd Fighter Group, from Ramitelli in Italy during March 1945.

The 332nd Fighter Group became one of the most celebrated American fighter formations of the Second World War. Its pilots and ground personnel served with distinction despite facing institutional segregation and discrimination within the United States armed forces.

Captain Roscoe Brown joined the 100th Fighter Squadron and flew combat missions over Europe, including bomber escort and fighter operations. His P-51D carried the name “Bunnie” and the serial 44-15569, together with the distinctive red tail markings associated with the 332nd Fighter Group.

The model recreates the aircraft in a natural-metal finish with a red tail, red propeller spinner and red identification markings. USAAF star-and-bar insignia and the “Bunnie” name provide further identifying details.

The North American P-51 Mustang was developed in response to a British requirement for a modern fighter. Once paired with the Rolls-Royce Merlin engine, it gained the speed, range and high-altitude performance required to escort Allied bombers deep into enemy-controlled territory.

The P-51D introduced the characteristic bubble canopy and carried six wing-mounted machine guns. Its combination of performance, range and firepower made it one of the most effective Allied fighter aircraft of the Second World War.

This Corgi Showcase release combines diecast metal construction with detailed plastic components, permanent pad-printed markings and realistic panel detail. It is supplied with a poseable display stand and descriptive collector information card.

Grading

Grading Criteria

Our grading is based mainly on the physical condition of the model itself, including paintwork, attached parts, repairs, visible wear and overall presentation. Box condition and missing separate accessories are noted separately where applicable.

Mint (10/10)
- As new, with no visible flaws to the model itself.

Near Mint (9/10)
- Very light signs of handling, storage or display only.

Excellent (8/10)
- Light wear or a few tiny marks, but still displays very well.

Very Good (7/10)
- Noticeable wear, small chips or rubs, but still presentable as a display piece.

Good (6/10)
- Obvious overall wear, visible marks or paint loss; better suited as a display or filler piece.

Fair (5/10)
- Heavy wear, larger areas of paint loss, repairs or clearly visible flaws.

Spares / Repairs (4/10 or below)
- Significant damage, missing attached parts, broken components or best suited for restoration/spares.

If a separate accessory, stand, leaflet, certificate or optional part is missing, this will be mentioned in the listing notes. The model may still receive a high grade if the model itself remains in strong condition.
