A stunning, highly detailed 1:72 scale diecast masterpiece capturing the early-war operations of Germany's premier heavy fighter turned legendary night hunter. This premium release from Corgi’s Aviation Archive Collector Series (AA38507) represents the twin-engine Messerschmitt Bf 110E in its striking, all-black nocturnal camouflage.
The model depicts airframe "G9+LN" as flown by 5./NJG 1 out of the St. Trond airfield in Belgium in June 1942. This specific fighter holds an extraordinary place in military aviation history, serving as the personal mount in which Heinz-Wolfgang Schnaufer claimed his very first aerial victory. Schnaufer would go on to fly the Bf 110 exclusively, ultimately becoming the most successful night fighter ace of World War II with an incredible 121 confirmed victories across 164 combat missions.
The peak of Schnaufer's legendary career occurred on February 21st, 1945, which proved to be his most formidable day in combat.
