This 1:72 diecast model of Hawker Hurricane Mk. IIC flown by Daniel Le Roy Du Vivier honours one of Belgium’s notable WWII pilots and his service with the RAF. Born in Amersfoort, Holland in 1915, Du Vivier began his military flying career in the Belgian Air Force, engaging German forces during the invasion of the Low Countries. After Belgium’s fall, he escaped to Britain and joined the RAF, scoring one confirmed kill during the Battle of Britain before being injured.
Despite the Hurricane’s declining status against newer enemy aircraft like the Bf 109F, Du Vivier continued to fly combat missions in the hard-hitting Mk. IIC, equipped with four 20mm cannons. During the Dieppe Raid, he led four separate attack sorties, each time returning with damage to his aircraft. Flying this very machine, he scored his fifth and final victory—a Ju 88 over the North Sea—though he was wounded in the action. His aircraft proudly bore the Belgian flag and the black-and-white checkers of RAF 43 Squadron, symbolizing his dual allegiance.
This model comes prebuilt and includes display accessories and a stand.
