Corgi Aviation Archive 1:72 Catalina, 209 Sqn, Pembroke Dock AA36101

Sale price£85.00 GBP

This 1:72 diecast model of a 209 Squadron PBY Catalina represents the aircraft that replaced the ill-fated Saro Lerwick and went on to serve with distinction in maritime patrol roles. No. 209 Squadron moved to Oban in October, and by December began receiving Lerwicks, which quickly proved unsuitable for operations. By April 1941, the squadron was re-equipped with the much more capable Consolidated Catalina flying boats.

In March 1941, 209 Squadron relocated to Lough Erne, then deployed to Iceland in August before returning to the UK, operating out of Pembroke Dock—a key base for anti-submarine patrols and reconnaissance missions during the war.

This model comes prebuilt and includes display accessories and a stand, ideal for collectors of RAF coastal command aircraft or maritime aviation history.

Length - 10.75"

Width - 17.25"

This model is graded as being in excellent condition overall. Notable imperfections include some yellowing of the factory glue resin at the wing-to-fuselage joints, as well as a smudge in the white paint at the end of the underside of the wing. Additionally, there are a few small marks near the smudge on the wing edge and one on the underside of the horizontal stabiliser. No breakages are present.

The box is in good condition but has faded colours mainly on the sides due to age and possibly with sunlight exposure. Some wear is present on the edges.
