Due to a Phantom shortage, No. 74 Squadron re-equipped with 15 refurbished U.S. Navy F-4Js on 1 July 1984, designated F-4J(UK) or Phantom F.Mk.3 in RAF service. Initially delivered in U.S. Navy grey, these aircraft were later repainted in RAF colours. ZE360, coded '0', wore early squadron markings before fin tips were painted black. The squadron later transitioned to Phantom FGR.2s, and ZE360 was retired to the Fire Training School at RAF Manston, Kent, where it remains today.
