Description
A defining icon from the peak of the Battle of Britain. This highly detailed 1:72 scale diecast model by Corgi (AA39210) replicates the historic Supermarine Spitfire Mk I (L1004 / LO-Q), flown by Squadron Leader Alexander "Sandy" Johnstone, Commanding Officer of No.602 (City of Glasgow) Squadron, while operating out of RAF Tangmere, England, in August 1940. Having moved south from defensive duties in Scotland to join the main theater over Southern England, Johnstone led No.602 Squadron during its most legendary period. Under his command, the squadron went on to secure a remarkable combat record, claiming the second-highest toll of enemy aircraft during the battle. Finished in an authentic Early War dark green and earth brown camouflage pattern with historic sky undersides and squadron code letters, this model captures the spirit of the iconic "Few."
Ideal for curators of Battle of Britain history and early WWII fighter aviation, this Aviation Archive Collector Series release serves as a definitive historical artifact. The model is engineered for exceptional scale accuracy, featuring a solid diecast metal construction with a characteristic under-wing mounted pitot tube and offset radiator/oil cooler ducts below the wings. The all-metal horizontal stabilizers and rudder assemblies are intricately cast to feature simulated fabric-stretched control surfaces, paired with a detailed cockpit housing a pilot figure. Complete with a sleek metal presentation stand that replicates an in-flight attitude, this premium model offers a sophisticated display presence for collectors prioritizing rare combat provenance and elite fighter command legacy.

- As new, with no visible flaws to the model itself.
Near Mint (9/10)
- Very light signs of handling, storage or display only.
Excellent (8/10)
- Light wear or a few tiny marks, but still displays very well.
Very Good (7/10)
- Noticeable wear, small chips or rubs, but still presentable as a display piece.
Good (6/10)

Fair (5/10)
- Heavy wear, larger areas of paint loss, repairs or clearly visible flaws.
Spares / Repairs (4/10 or below)
