Description

A highly detailed 1:72 scale diecast representation of a Royal Air Force SEPECAT Jaguar GR.Mk 1 serving with No. 6 Squadron at RAF Coltishall during 1990. Released as part of the Corgi Aviation Archive Collector Series, AA35401 depicts aircraft XX970 in its operational green and grey camouflage scheme.

No. 6 Squadron developed a long association with the Jaguar and operated the type from RAF Coltishall. The aircraft was used for low-level strike, tactical reconnaissance and close-support duties, providing the RAF with an agile and effective attack platform throughout the later Cold War period.

Aircraft XX970 is recreated with subdued RAF roundels, No. 6 Squadron markings and the unit’s distinctive flying-can-opener emblem. The model also carries external fuel tanks and underwing stores representative of the Jaguar’s operational strike configuration.

The SEPECAT Jaguar was developed jointly by Britain and France in response to requirements for an advanced trainer and light attack aircraft. First flown in 1968, it evolved into a capable supersonic strike aircraft well suited to fast, low-level operations.

The Jaguar’s compact airframe, swept wings and twin-engine configuration allowed it to operate from comparatively short runways while carrying a useful weapons load. RAF Jaguars remained in operational service until 2007 and participated in numerous overseas deployments and combat operations.

This Corgi release features substantial diecast construction, movable elevators, simulated metallic heat shielding around the engine exhausts and a separately applied nose-camera lens. Further details include underwing stores, removable landing gear, authentic No. 6 Squadron markings and the original presentation display stand.

Grading

Grading Criteria

Our grading is based mainly on the physical condition of the model itself, including paintwork, attached parts, repairs, visible wear and overall presentation. Box condition and missing separate accessories are noted separately where applicable.

Mint (10/10)
- As new, with no visible flaws to the model itself.

Near Mint (9/10)
- Very light signs of handling, storage or display only.

Excellent (8/10)
- Light wear or a few tiny marks, but still displays very well.

Very Good (7/10)
- Noticeable wear, small chips or rubs, but still presentable as a display piece.

Good (6/10)
- Obvious overall wear, visible marks or paint loss; better suited as a display or filler piece.

Fair (5/10)
- Heavy wear, larger areas of paint loss, repairs or clearly visible flaws.

Spares / Repairs (4/10 or below)
- Significant damage, missing attached parts, broken components or best suited for restoration/spares.

If a separate accessory, stand, leaflet, certificate or optional part is missing, this will be mentioned in the listing notes. The model may still receive a high grade if the model itself remains in strong condition.
