Description
A substantial and highly detailed 1:72 scale diecast representation of a de Havilland Mosquito B.Mk IV operated by Royal Air Force No. 105 Squadron. Released as part of the Corgi Aviation Archive Collector Series, AA32820 depicts aircraft DK296, associated with pilot D.A.G. “George” Parry.
No. 105 Squadron became the first operational RAF unit to receive the revolutionary de Havilland Mosquito. Its crews demonstrated the aircraft's exceptional speed and range through precision bombing and daylight operations over occupied Europe, often relying on performance rather than heavy defensive armament for protection.
The Mosquito was constructed primarily from moulded wood, earning it the enduring nickname “The Wooden Wonder”. This unusual method of construction reduced dependence on strategically important metals while allowing the aircraft to be manufactured by companies with experience in furniture and woodworking.
Powered by two Rolls-Royce Merlin engines, the Mosquito combined the speed of a fighter with the range and payload of a medium bomber. Its adaptable airframe was eventually developed for bombing, photographic reconnaissance, night fighting, maritime strike and ground-attack duties.
The model recreates the aircraft in RAF green and grey camouflage with contrasting undersides, prominent national roundels and No. 105 Squadron markings. Its extensively glazed nose and cockpit reflect the bomber configuration, while the twin engine nacelles and slender wooden airframe capture the elegant appearance of the real aircraft.
Limited to only 1,100 pieces worldwide, this release is particularly appealing to collectors of early Mosquito operations and historically significant RAF aircraft. The model features heavyweight diecast construction, a large clear canopy with crew figures, rotating propellers, removable landing gear, detailed radiator and engine components and the original Corgi Aviation Archive presentation stand.

- Noticeable wear, small chips or rubs, but still presentable as a display piece.
Good (6/10)
- Obvious overall wear, visible marks or paint loss; better suited as a display or filler piece.
Fair (5/10)
- Heavy wear, larger areas of paint loss, repairs or clearly visible flaws.
Spares / Repairs (4/10 or below)
- Significant damage, missing attached parts, broken components or best suited for restoration/spares.
