Description
A lethal anti-shipping raider from the legendary Banff Strike Wing. This highly detailed 1:72 scale diecast model by Corgi (AA32818) replicates the de Havilland Mosquito FB.Mk VI (HR405 / NE-A), flown by Squadron Leader David Pritchard DFC of No.143 Squadron, operating out of RAF Banff, Scotland, in February 1945. Part of the specialized Banff Strike Wing under RAF Coastal Command, No.143 Squadron flew incredibly hazardous, low-level rocket and cannon attacks against heavily defended German shipping and U-boats hidden deep inside Norwegian fjords. This specific aircraft is historically famous for leading key strikes, including a major engagement against Luftwaffe FW190s of JG5 on March 23, 1945. Finished in an authentic Coastal Command Extra Dark Sea Grey and Sky camouflage scheme, this model captures the lethal, elegant design of the "Wooden Wonder."
Ideal for curators of RAF Coastal Command operations and late-war anti-shipping history, this Aviation Archive Collector Series release serves as a definitive historical artifact. The model is engineered for exceptional scale accuracy, featuring an array of 25lb armor-piercing underwing rockets, nose-mounted machine guns, and four 20mm cannon ports beneath the fuselage. Key engineering highlights include highly detailed air and oil coolant radiator ducts that can be configured in either the open or closed positions, a large birdcage canopy revealing the internal crew crew figures, and a sleek presentation display stand that cradles the twin-engine aircraft in an in-flight profile. This premium diecast metal model offers a sophisticated display presence for collectors prioritizing combat provenance and tactical maritime aviation legacy.
