A magnificent, large-scale 1:72 diecast masterpiece capturing the post-WWII peace-time "second life" of a legendary multi-engine heavy bomber. This premium replica within Corgi's Aviation Archive Collector Series (AA32606) perfectly renders the Avro Lancaster Mk.10MP as operated by the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) No.107 Rescue Unit. Following the conclusion of World War II, the RCAF found itself with a significant surplus of formidable Lancaster bombers. Recognizing the airframe's robust endurance, they refurbished these machines for transport, maritime reconnaissance, and dedicated search and rescue duties. To transition them into peace-time search roles, the combat guns were completely stripped away, and the offensive turrets were expertly converted into enclosed observation stations. These highly modified aircraft were outfitted with advanced C-1 autopilots, radio altimeters, enhanced cabin heating systems, cutting-edge navigation/radio gear, and an onboard galley, receiving the official designation of Mk.10MP (Maritime Patrol).
