Description
An elegant and substantial 1:144 scale diecast representation of Lockheed L-749 Constellation G-ALAL “Banbury”, operated by the British Overseas Airways Corporation during the formative years of post-war international air travel. Released as part of the Corgi Aviation Archive Collector Series, AA30401 captures one of the most distinctive long-range piston airliners ever produced.
G-ALAL formed part of BOAC's early Constellation fleet and became associated with the expansion of the airline's long-distance route network. In December 1948, the aircraft operated BOAC's inaugural Constellation service to Sydney, demonstrating the type's ability to connect Britain with destinations across Asia and Australia.
The aircraft is presented in BOAC's classic polished natural-metal finish with a white upper fuselage, dark blue cheatline and prominent British Overseas Airways Corporation lettering. The registration G-ALAL and individual name “Banbury” identify the specific aircraft represented by this limited-edition release.
The Lockheed Constellation was developed as a fast, pressurised long-range airliner and became instantly recognisable through its graceful curved fuselage, low-mounted wings and distinctive triple-fin tail. The L-749 incorporated increased fuel capacity and improved range, allowing airlines to operate longer international routes with fewer intermediate stops.
The Constellation became closely associated with the prestigious early years of transatlantic and intercontinental passenger flight. Its combination of speed, passenger comfort and elegant styling made it one of the defining civil airliners of the late 1940s and 1950s before jet-powered aircraft transformed the industry.
Limited to 2,400 pieces worldwide, this Corgi release features extensive diecast construction, clear cockpit glazing, permanently printed cabin windows and authentic BOAC markings. Additional features include four rotating propellers, removable landing gear and the original Corgi Aviation Archive presentation display stand.

Fair (5/10)
- Heavy wear, larger areas of paint loss, repairs or clearly visible flaws.
Spares / Repairs (4/10 or below)
