Description
A beautifully decorated testament to the legendary Flying Tigers of the AVG. This highly detailed 1:72 scale diecast model by Corgi (AA28104) replicates the Curtiss Hawk 81-A-2 (P-8127 / "White 47"), flown by the celebrated ace Flight Leader Robert "R.T." Smith of the 3rd Squadron ("Hell's Angels"), American Volunteer Group (AVG). Operating out of Kunming, China, in June 1942, Smith and his fellow volunteer pilots fought against overwhelming odds in their rugged Curtiss fighters at a time when Japanese forces were rapidly advancing across the Pacific. Far from an undisciplined group, the Flying Tigers were elite, highly trained tactical flyers who endured some of the most inhospitable conditions of WWII. They achieved stunning success in theater, posting some of the most spectacular combat kill ratios of the entire war. This release perfectly captures the iconic shark mouth nose art paired with the group's classic olive drab and earth camouflage pattern.

- Light paint bubbling to the topside wing tips.
- One landing gear down accessory is missing.
Box condition - Excellent (8/10)
- Light surface marks on the front cover and a small rip to the corner of the top cover.

- Very light signs of handling, storage or display only.
Excellent (8/10)
- Light wear or a few tiny marks, but still displays very well.
Very Good (7/10)
- Noticeable wear, small chips or rubs, but still presentable as a display piece.
Good (6/10)
- Obvious overall wear, visible marks or paint loss; better suited as a display or filler piece.
Fair (5/10)
- Heavy wear, larger areas of paint loss, repairs or clearly visible flaws.
Spares / Repairs (4/10 or below)
- Significant damage, missing attached parts, broken components or best suited for restoration/spares.
If a separate accessory, stand, leaflet, certificate or optional part is missing, this will be mentioned in the listing notes. The model may still receive a high grade if the model itself remains in strong condition.
