Description
A highly detailed 1:72 scale diecast representation of the Curtiss P-40B Warhawk flown by George Welch during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. Released as part of the Corgi Aviation Archive Collector Series, AA28101 depicts “White 160” of the USAAF 47th Pursuit Squadron, 15th Pursuit Group, operating from Wheeler Field on 7th December 1941.
Following the first explosions of the Japanese attack, pilots George Welch and Kenneth Taylor travelled to Haleiwa Fighter Strip, where several P-40 fighters had been positioned away from the main airfields. Despite the confusion and danger surrounding the attack, the two pilots succeeded in getting airborne to engage the attacking aircraft.
Welch flew repeated sorties against Japanese formations over Oahu, landing to rearm and refuel before returning to combat. His actions, together with those of Taylor, became one of the best-known examples of American aerial resistance during the Pearl Harbor attack.
The model recreates the aircraft in its olive drab upper-surface finish with a lighter underside, early United States national markings and the prominent individual number “160” applied along the fuselage. The compact airframe, distinctive nose profile and exposed undercarriage configuration capture the early-war appearance of the P-40B.
Designed to meet a United States Army Air Corps requirement for a modern pursuit aircraft, the Curtiss P-40 first flew in 1938. Although its high-altitude performance was limited compared with some later fighters, the aircraft was rugged, heavily armed and effective at lower altitudes.
Limited to 1,500 pieces worldwide, this release is particularly appealing to collectors of Pearl Harbor subjects and early United States Army Air Forces fighters. The model features diecast construction, a detailed cockpit beneath a clear canopy, rotating propeller, authentic White 160 markings, removable landing gear and the original Corgi Aviation Archive presentation stand.

- Heavy wear, larger areas of paint loss, repairs or clearly visible flaws.
Spares / Repairs (4/10 or below)
- Significant damage, missing attached parts, broken components or best suited for restoration/spares.
