Description
A distinctive and highly detailed 1:72 scale diecast representation of a Messerschmitt Bf 109E flown by Hauptmann Hans von Hahn of Jagdgeschwader 3 “Udet” during the Battle of Britain. Released as part of the early Corgi Aviation Archive range, model 49201 depicts von Hahn's command aircraft while operating from France during 1940.
Hans von Hahn served as commander of I. Gruppe, Jagdgeschwader 3 during the aerial campaign against Britain. Aircraft assigned to senior formation leaders commonly carried prominent command markings, allowing them to be identified easily by other pilots in the air.
The model recreates the aircraft in a dark grey and yellow colour scheme with black and white German national crosses. A double black chevron marks it as a commander's aircraft, while the yellow engine cowling and tail create a particularly striking appearance.
JG 3 carried the honorary title “Udet” in recognition of First World War fighter ace Ernst Udet. During 1940, the unit took part in operations over France, the English Channel and southern Britain as the Luftwaffe attempted to defeat RAF Fighter Command.
The Messerschmitt Bf 109 was one of the principal German fighters of the Second World War. Its all-metal construction, enclosed cockpit, retractable undercarriage and powerful Daimler-Benz engine made it one of the world's most advanced fighters when first introduced.
This early Corgi release features extensive diecast construction, simulated fabric-textured control surfaces, detailed cockpit glazing and a rotating three-bladed propeller. Further details include wing-mounted armament, removable landing gear and the original curved Corgi presentation stand.

Spares / Repairs (4/10 or below)
- Significant damage, missing attached parts, broken components or best suited for restoration/spares.
