Description
A substantial and highly detailed 1:144 scale diecast representation of Handley Page Victor K.2 tanker XM715 “Teasin’ Tina”, operated by Royal Air Force No. 55 Squadron during the 1991 Gulf War. Released as part of the Corgi Aviation Archive range, model 48701 depicts the aircraft while deployed to Bahrain in support of Operation Granby.
Operation Granby was the British contribution to the international campaign to remove Iraqi forces from Kuwait. The Royal Air Force deployed its remaining Victor K.2 tankers to Bahrain, where they provided essential air-to-air refuelling support for British and coalition combat aircraft operating over the Persian Gulf.
XM715 became one of the best-known Victors involved in the campaign. The aircraft received the individual name “Teasin’ Tina” and completed 38 operational refuelling missions. These sorties were represented by a line of black petrol-pump mission symbols applied near the forward crew door.
The model recreates XM715 in its distinctive Gulf War-era hemp and light grey finish, with subdued RAF roundels, No. 55 Squadron markings and the colourful “Teasin’ Tina” nose artwork. Its prominent crescent wing, high-mounted tailplane and four recessed Conway engines capture the unmistakable appearance of the Victor.
Originally developed as one of Britain’s three Cold War V-bombers, the Handley Page Victor entered service as a strategic nuclear bomber. Its advanced crescent wing, clean aerodynamic profile and four Rolls-Royce Conway engines provided excellent high-altitude performance and gave the aircraft a particularly futuristic appearance.
Following changes to Britain’s nuclear deterrent and the withdrawal of earlier tanker aircraft, a number of Victor B.2 airframes were converted into K.2 aerial refuelling tankers. These aircraft carried wing-mounted refuelling pods and a high-capacity centreline hose unit, allowing several receiving aircraft to be supported during long-range operations. The Victor K.2 remained in RAF service until 1993.
After retirement, XM715 was preserved at Bruntingthorpe Aerodrome and became one of the best-known surviving Victors. Released around 2000 and limited to 5,000 pieces worldwide, this early Corgi Aviation Archive model features extensive diecast construction, detailed tanker equipment, clear cockpit glazing, supplied landing gear, display stand and a numbered limited-edition certificate.

- Model is in excellent condition overall and comes complete.
- Small area of paint bubbling present on the top of the fuselage.
- Some general handling marks and a couple of blemishes are present in various places, although these are not overly noticeable.
- Tail horizontal stabiliser has some residue around the joining area and does not sit completely flush; it is difficult to confirm whether this is from manufacture or a previous repair.
- Despite the noted imperfections, the model still displays very well.
Box condition - Excellent (8/10)
- Box is in excellent condition for its age, with some general wear present.
