Continual development allowed the design to remain a major Luftwaffe combat type throughout the war.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eEduard Neumann had already gained combat experience with the Condor Legion in Spain before serving with JG 26 at the beginning of the conflict.
